Meet Dan Disalvo,
Founder of Swine-O-Mite

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Dan Disalvo. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Jeannie, for 20 years. We have a daughter, Amelia, who is a senior at Underwood High School. Jeannie is a graduate from here, and I am a transplant.

I am a proud member of Steamfitters Local 464 and have been for 32 years. My passion for building things out of metal is how Swine-O-Mite was created. My late father in law and good friend, Ron Gochanour, helped me build the smoker, and I am very thankful for him.

I have always enjoyed cooking, but especially smoking and BBQ. Swine-O-Mite is something I created from the name, to the smoker, to the logo. The logo was created by my friend’s son, who at the time was a junior in high school here in Underwood. Thank you, Kosta.

My vision and hope is to be able to provide for the Underwood community and the surrounding area. We are pretty much a mobile tailgate BBQ, but we are also capable of catering for birthdays, graduations, weddings, and other events.

Some of the events we were involved in last year include the Fourth of July in Underwood, Trunk or Treat in Underwood, Monday Market in Underwood, MX and Westfair, Hoo Doo Days in Neola, Bikes on the 100 Block in Council Bluffs, outdoor events at The Dock in Council Bluffs, the Testicle Festival, Full Fledged Brewery in Council Bluffs, the Primrose Car Show, graduation parties, the Wyffels Hybrid Appreciation Dinner, and the Stortenbecker family.

It was a great year, and we are thankful for all of the support. I am pretty sure I have the best crew in BBQ. Thank you to them. I am hopeful for a bigger and better year, with some new things on the menu and new and better things on the horizon.

Thank you,
Dan Disalvo
